About Rock Support
The idea for this website developed after discovering a bunch of new bands in the past year that I felt needed a push. Young, hard working, talented musicians who now more than ever need the support of the fans and word of mouth to build a career in music. So many of these bands deserve to have similar careers to the stadium bands of the 70s, 80s and 90s. They should be household names.
2014 has seen a major decline in album sales, not just physical but digital as well. Only one album has achieved platinum status and that was from Taylor Swift. Personally, this depresses the hell out of me. Music has been a life-long passion and I consider it to be one of the most important things the world has to offer. It's sad that, to some, music has lost its importance and its value.
Gene Simmons has started the debate on Rock is Dead. Everyone has their opinion on this matter. Regardless of your views, there are still countless young bands who are passionate and hungry for success. Without the support that the record companies once gave, it's now down to the fans.
Anyone passionate enough about music to form a band deserves their shot at having their music heard and gaining a following. The bands are out there. You just need to do the research.
Find some new bands, tell your friends, go to live shows and buy their albums and merch.
